In today's episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Tonya Lim, the Doggy Doula™ at Family Pupz, who shared her expertise on keeping kids and dogs safe.
As we all know, dogs are a paw-some addition to any family, but it's important to ensure that our furry friends and little humans can coexist safely and happily. Tonya emphasized the importance of understanding dog body language and recognizing their subtle signals when they are feeling uncomfortable or stressed.
One of my favorite quotes from Tonya was, “We need to train not only our dogs, but also our children on how to behave around dogs.” This reminded me of the famous quote, “A dog is a man's best friend,” but we also need to be our dog's best friend by providing them with the guidance and support they need to thrive in our households.
Tonya also talked about the common misconception that certain dog breeds are more aggressive than others. She reminded us that any dog, regardless of breed, has the potential to bite if they feel threatened or uncomfortable. We need to be proactive in our approach to keeping everyone safe and happy.

As dog lovers, we want our pups to be included in every aspect of our lives, especially when it comes to welcoming a new bundle of joy into the family. Tonya shared some paw-some tips on how to prepare our dogs for the arrival of a new baby, including introducing them to baby smells before bringing the little one home.
I hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I did, and that you learned some paw-some tips on how to keep your dogs and kids safe and happy. Remember, we are our dog's best friend, and it's up to us to provide them with the love and guidance they need to thrive.
